EXCELL Computers's Expert Computer Network Cabling Services

Why Wire?

Wire is generally sufficient for most LANs.  There are several types available to meet most needs within most single structures.  It can be used between buildings if it is placed below ground within a proper conduit.  Its primary attractiveness is its lower cost than fiber.

Why Fiber?

Fiber optic cable has the ability to transmit signals over much longer distances than twisted pair.  It also has the capability to carry information at vastly greater speeds.  It is immune to moisture and lightening making it the perfect medium to span between two or more buildings.

The Critical Cable

Of critical importance to any computer network is the selection and proper installation of its cabling.  EXCELL Computers can help you make the right choice(s) of cabling and perform a proper installation for a trouble-free Network.

What Is Network Cabling?

Cable is a medium through which information can be moved from one network device to another.  There are several types of cable which are commonly used in a Local Area Network (LAN).  In some cases, a network requires only one type of cable.  Other networks may require the use of a variety of cable types.  Among the considerations in choosing the correct cable is your network's topology, protocol, and size.  EXCELL understands what cables are necessary to be used in your network and how to perform a proper installation resulting in a successful network.

Installation

Once the correct cable type(s) are determined, EXCELL will perform a top-notch install.  If you are expanding an existing network, we can perform you cable installation with the least amount of disruption of you workplace.  Here are the general type of cable we can supply and install for you:

  • Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Cable - Category 5e and 6
  • Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Cable  - Category 5e and 6
  • Fiber Optic Cable

How Far Can A Digital Signal Be Transmitted?

When building a larger network where distances may even include traveling between buildings, there are absolute restrictions and limits to observe.  The following can be used as a basic guideline when factoring in the signal speeds and distances required to travel by your network:
